About Wonga

Wonga is a loan company made up of multiple international financial services businesses who want to help people who need short time financial help and loans. It was founded in the UK in 2007 allowing people to access easy loans online. Wonga quickly expanded to multiple different countries including Spain, Poland, and South Africa.


6 Month Flexi Loan

The 6-month Flexi loan allows you to borrow £200-£600 and pay back in monthly installments for 6 months, you can choose when you want to start your repayments and you will be shown how much and when you will need to repay before you apply as well as how much in total you will need to repay with interest, the fixed interest rate is 274%pa. If you are late on a repayment you will be charged £15 at 11 pm on the third day after your repayment date if you still havent paid, you will only be charged one missed payment fee per loan. your interest will grow by 0.75% every day you miss a payment but you will never have to pay back more than double of your loan. Short Term Loan

With the short term loan, you can borrow from £50 to £400 and how long you want to lend it for. First choose how much money you need to loan, for example, £50,  you then need to choose how long you need it for if you choose 7 days the interest will be £2.80 and you will have to repay £52.80 in 7 days time. If you miss the payment you will be charged £15 at 11 pm on the third day of your missed payment, the interest of the payment will increase by 0.8% for a maximum of 30 days from your repayment. 3 Month Flexi Loan

With the 3 months Flexi loan you can lend from £150 – £500. You can pick the date you start your repayments and the sooner in the month you start paying back the loan the smaller the interest cost. If you miss a payment you will be charged £15 on the third day of your missed payment at 11 pm, your interest will rise by 0.8% per day missed, you will never have to pay back more than double of what you originally borrowed. If you wish to complain to Wonga, you can email your complaint to customercomplaints@wonga.com. You need to include your name, email address (must be the email address associated with your account), a detailed description of your account and a suggestion of how Wonga can make things better. Wonga aims to have read and acknowledged your complaint within 5 days of receiving it. If your complaint is complex and Wonga expect it to take longer than normal complaints to solve they will get in touch with you and keep you updated on its progress. Wonga will have sent you your final response within 8 weeks if this is not possible for your complaint Wonga will be in touch with you to inform you of the delay. If you are unhappy with the response you have received or you have not received a response you can contact the Financial Ombudsman Service.

How to contact the Financial Ombudsman Service

You must send your complaint to the FOS within 6 months of Wonga’s final response. To contact FOS by telephone call 0800 023 4567.
