About KFC

KFC started in 1930 when Harland Sanders opened up a chicken shop next to the highway, in 1935 he was made a Colonel by the state of Kentucky. He then opened up his first shop outside of Kentucky in Utah in 1952, soon spreading all over the united states and in 1965 he opened the first Kentucky Fried Chicken in the UK. KFC quickly spread around the world and can now be bought in 118 countries worldwide.

Early Careers

Graduate Scheme

KFC have a graduate scheme for university leavers who are interested in starting their career with KFC. In the graduate scheme, you pick from either the retail management or leadership development. If you pick retail management for the first 5 months you begin training, the basic fundamentals of chicken and then the team leader training which is a combination of training on the job, online and classroom-based learning. After the 6 months l=training you will begin you assistant manager training where you will learn the ins and outs of running your own KFC restaurant including the financial side of things. When you finish your training you will become a restaurant manager. If you pick leadership development you will be learning the basics of chicken too as well as becoming a qualified manager in just 12 months with their leadership fast track training. Once you have completed the management training you will spend another 12 months learning a specific role whether that’s finance, supply chain, HR or some others you will start building up your ability at a senior level. In the last 12 months of the program, you will either spend it in a cluster manager role, a role in RSC or continue as manager in your own restaurant. the salary of the retail management is £23,000 and the leadership development is £27,000, they both offer the pick and mix of KFC benefits as well as a £1,000 and £3,000 welcome bonus. College Leavers

The college leavers scheme offers the opportunity to be fast tracked to a management career with the potential to become an assistant general manager within a year of being on the program. You will be mostly trained in a restaurant with some online and classroom based training. This opportunity comes with many benefits such as a salary of £19,000 with a sign off bonus, 24 days holiday, the option to take up a pension scheme, online discount codes from a variety of high street retailers and a sales incentive bonus scheme. To apply for this you need at least BBC in your A-levels or the equivalent of 280 UCAS points and you need to have recently finished college in the last 3 years.
